Currently, my laptop is being very slow. It is a HP that I have had for about 6 months that has an i7 H processor however it is taking a while on boot up and a while to launch simple applications such as Microsoft Word and Powerpoint etc... I have tried to solve this by getting rid of a few applications but when i went on task manager to see if i could see the problem there, it says that Disk is almost always running at 100% or close to it. Can you please explain what this means and if it could be the reason for my laptop being slow.
    Thanks

What is the exact model of your laptop? We need specific specs of it. It could also be filled with malware, have you ran malwarebytes?

Base cpu speed is only 1.8 ghz though it is a quad core. When you open task manager click on the disk usage column so it sorts it by most usage first then you'll know what process is using it all. I would definitely scan for malware though.

It could be superfetch. I once had a similar problem when dealing with a slow 5400 rpm hard drive. Disabled superfetch and it rarely happened again.
