Ok i just bought a HIS radeon x1650 pro 256 mb 128 bit 12 pipelines and my old card was a fx5200 128 mb 64 bit 4 pixel pipelines. WHy do i notic none-to worse performance with my games. I reformated and installed all the correct drivers and ect so i know thats not the problem.
Thanks. O yea and its AGP sys specs are p4 2.66 ghz 1 gb ram.

Umm the X1650pro IS much better than the FX5200, what do you mean by worse performance? Did you install a FPS displaying program like FRAPS to compare or its just your hunch? The X1650pro is DEFINITELY better than the FX5200, I have benchmarked cards like that and their scores are worlds apart.

i am getting better performance with fx 5200 in cs source so i thats is how i reached my conclusion. I turned on the fps thing in console and fps is lower with new card

what cpu/mobo/ram? is it agp 4x? 8x?

im thinkin either a wimpy psu like emporer nero said or a bottleneck in ur hardware.

whats the brand of the psu, what is the 12v amperage?

Are you thinking that the PSU is not supplying enough juice so the card is running as if the external power has not been connected? I doubt that it would be his PSU, maybe some software that is hogging the resources.

We need more details about the power supply. 400 watts really dosen't mean anything. We need to know how many amps it has on the 12V rails. Do you have a link to the exact type? Or maye you can just list the amperage values that it lists for the 12V rail, which should be on the side of the power supply, on the sticker/label.

Well, lets start with something a little more basic then checking all the rails. :)

Are you running the same graphics settings with the new card as the old?

have you physicly benchmarked your fps on css?

do the graphic stress test, use exact same settings.

it could be that its running in dx7 mode with the fx5500
and dx9c for the 1650 pro

or that hes using HDR or AA or AS, or hightened settings?

im guessing its one of those
