Why is wireless so slow?! Wireless N

Okay hi all, i have a wireless n router. This laptop is my moms, has a wireless N connection. All the other pcs in the house have wirless G and get about 5mbps or more... check out this pc...

Also had a wireless N card before my G on my computer... that was also much slower



THIS is way too slow right?



Is there a way I can disable wireless N and use G?

You should be able to go into your router's wireless settings and configure it so that it only outputs 802.11g. If you don't know how to do that, let me know the brand of router and I can help you out.
 
Your upload is 5mb/s, but your download is 1.76mb/s??? Another computer in your house
is downloading a lot of stuff on bittorrent.
 
Nah, that would affect ALL of the computers, not just the ones on N. My guess is that it's just the router acting up.
 
so you think the router is busted? Any N connection is slow, but all the G connections are fast
