why isnt my center speaker working?

i have just installed my z5500's and i have a 5.1 compatible sound card,... yet no matter what "effect" (z5550 option) i can only have 4/5 speakers working all but the center one, its on "Stereo x2"

also i am just playing regular music... do i have to be playing a certain game / watching certain movie to get the 5.1 sound?

other notes:
I have my audio / speakers settings at 5.1 , and with all updated drives, and the right selections is advanced audio properties...

Recheck where those are plugged in. There's front, rear, and then center seen on 5.1 model cards. You could have a bad jack or wiring problem with that speaker to consider if all drivers went on correctly. Also try adjusting the different volume controls. One is for main volume while others are for front to back and woofer to top center balance.
