i cant figure it out!!!!!

my sims 3 always runs choppy and crappy. My system far exceeds the requirements. i even went out and bought the game thinking it would make a difference but it didnt. I have the latest patch for sims also.

FOR WINDOWS VISTA
* 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1.5 GB RAM
* A 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of
additional space for custom content and saved games

Those are the system requirements, This is my setup

dual 2.6ghz cpu( double the requirement)
gtx 260 ( far beyond the requirement)
3gigs of ddr400 ocz ( far beyond the requirement)
two 74gig raptors in raid 0 (far beyond the requirement).

My computer runs Modern warfare 2 fully maxed out no problems, but yet when i play sims 3 it runs choppy.
I have tried formating, Different gpu drivers, installing chipset drivers, i even tried buying the game like i mentioned. Still same choppiness.

THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF that is causing this, is the slow ddr400 memory...this is the only thing i can even think of. But what boggles my mind is that why would it my system run modern warfare 2 fully maxed and not sims3..I talked to a couple other people and theere computer runs sims 3 just fine...

Please help or give input?

Have you tried changing the "Compatibility" to run as a different OS?

Right Click the shortcut, Properties, Compatibility. Try to "Run as XP" or "Vista 32bit".

Worth a shot.

hmm

yes, just hooked up my other sata hardrive with xp and still same thing, This is very irritating..lol...the only thing i can think of , is the slow ddr400

After 5 or so years I still think this game sucks. The Sims 4 seems to suck even more based on all the reviews. I have 4 GB of ram & plenty of HDD space yet it still plays like crap. I am running a 64 bit copy of Windows 7 but that goes to show you how backwards they went with the sims. To make things worse the sims 4 seems to be extremely limited (no cars, limited content, hardly anywhere to go etc. etc.) unless you get expansions. I shouldn't need expansions to enjoy a sequel of a game, the sequel should naturally be better than its previous titles.

The graphics were my main problem with 3. Honesty, with the money they made on 'expansions' and previous sim games they could have done better. I mean allot better. I was expecting a scaled up version of 2 with more to do and better graphics that can work across supported operating systems without having to adjust for graphics. I didn't need to adjust for graphics in 1 or 2, so why should I in 3? For the sims it seems like 3 steps back and 1 step forward lately with 3 & 4 being the two worst in the series.

This post is over 5 years old. No point in dredging it back up, especially given that it's a specific issue and not a discussion thread.
