Why no DX10?

My friend recently built his computer, installed all the drivers, OS, other software, and is ready to game. he has the 8800gt but he can't seem to run dx10 on it. Company of Heros came with his video card and has a patcher disk for dx10. he can play COH in dx10, but not the crysis demo. he then downloaded dx10 directly from microsoft and installed it, but when he runs crysis, in looks just the same. whats the problem? is there some obvious step that we've missed? Thanks

You won't really notice an difference from DX9 to DX10. Make sure he has Vista too, or DX10 won't work...

Crysis is both an DX9 and DX10 game.

Ya I played crysis on my pc and my x1900xtx is DX9 and so is my OS.

Theres not rlly much of a noticeable difference imho.

He does have Vista correct?

If so, the Crysis and some other game demos don't let you run the demo in DX10 mode, probably so when the game comes out people will still want to buy it.
