Why processor in smart phone?

Hello friends, m currently working on a report on a smart phone and i need to mention why do we need a processor in a smart phone. Please help me find the most details answer to this question...thanks.
 
Tried to find a web site to answer you better but couldn't find one. I think the best way to answer you is that a smart phone is much like a smaller netbook, it can run apps (much like software on a computer) and can do video, music and web browsing just like a computer. In order to run all the things that people enjoy on a smart phone you need a cpu, just like a computer.
 
Every phone has a processor in it, they just don't advertise it as much because nobody cares about it. Smartphones are more similar to computers than dumbphones and thus you see more detailed specifications such as processor, memory, ROM etc.
