due to some reasons we have restart our routers very frequent. it gets connected and after 4/5 mins the connection fails, but sometime it continues. any idea about these interruption, what should we do to avoid, at least avoid happening it this frequent..

we have got Motorola modem and linsys router. today it was extreme, I had to restart it every 5/6 mins. A guy told to me that it was due to many people using it otday, new years eve, could it be that way?

Yes, we did, but that day nothing helped and i had to restart them every 5/6 mins. we even reset the router but nothing. Surprisingly, now its working smooth... we did not do anything but it was fine yesterday and today too..
thanks for your attention Konsole...

Your ISP told you its because alot of people are connected? I don't know if im ready to believe that, maybe because they cant manage a network. Sometimes its your ISP trying to get there act together, others it could be a hardware issue. Has this problem stopped, and everything's running fine? If so it could have just been your ISP dealing with whatever.

teamhex, its not that the ISP told us anything about being busy, it was my co-worker who said that might have happened. when we contacted ISP they said, instead, everything is working fine according to their system records. But now the problem is gone and I am using it without restarting for 3 days and counting lol. what we did was we reset the router thats it, but we had done it earlier too and did not help that day. Now, we did the same thing and its running fine..
thanx

Yeah you'd be surprised what a restart can do, for a computer and networking equipment.
