Why so laggy? FIX?

Hi, well I just got building my PC about 3 days ago and when I play Battlefield2 the graphics are laggy when everything is on high.

Here's what I have:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.00Ghz
Asus M2N-E
GeForce 7600GS 256MB 400Mhz/800Mhz DDR2
512MB of 667 RAM
IDE harddrive ATA-100
I am pretty sure its the memory so here are two choises that I have.

1) Buy another RAM of the same kind and run them as DUAL ($45) + get SATA3.0Gb 80GIG hard drive ($45)
2) Buy two of the same RAM ($100) and keep my old IDE HD.

1G should be plenty. Do you have a single stick of 512M? If so, get another and that should really increase your performce(IE dual channel)

Yep, thats what I have. I bought it beacause I knew that I am going to upgrade in the future (I didnt know that I'll upgrade 3 days later :)). For some reason I though that 512M will be just enough cuz of AMD and all. But I guess I was wrong. Alright then, I'll go with the 1st choise. 512MB of the same RAM and run them DUAL channel and buy an SATAII HD cuz my old cricket is driving me nuts ;).
