why so noisy?

I have noticed that people say that the gtx 480 is very noisy, and I was just wondering if the 580 is noisy too, cause it looks like that they use the same cooling solution? Or is it something else that makes the 480 sound like a washing machine?

The 580 is a little quieter, but not by much. That's the one downside with these cards plus the heat. There are aftermarket coolers out there that are super quiet and keep it a lot cooler.
