I found this thread on another forum I visit and thought "Everyone should see this!" - so here it is:

What's there? A genuine comparison with proper tools of HDMI cables ranging in price from bundled with the TV to $200.

And what are the results? Absolutely no difference that the human eye could tell. So there's no need to buy that $120 Monster HDMI cable the smiling salesman is offering you "an awesome deal" on. You should be 100% fine with *any* HDMI cable!

I agree on principle that pricy HDMI cables are a rip off in terms for quality but then again be aware of the cheapies as some are inferior in performance.... reason being some of the cheaper cables do not use all the pins allocated.
In fact you are not fine with every HDMI cable purchased.

Disagree. All HDMI cables are digital signals. They're the exact some signals being put out, no matter what cable you use. Buying a expensive cable does not give you more 1s or 0s and make the quality better, somehow.

That's why it's stupid to go to Best Buy and spend $50 on a 6ft HDMI cable when you can get a 12ft HDMI cable on newegg for $15.

I'm not arguing digital signals out put... Do you know the HDMI standard? how many wires in the cable and actually how many are used. how many for TMDS Data, Data Shields, Data clock, ground and power etc etc.

As I said not all HDMI cables are equal or wired the same..... go google HDMI specs and see for your self.
