Part of me wants to learn how to use these two operating sytems. . . . but then I ask myself why and come up with nothing. It seems that all useful things are compatable wit windows. The only answer I got so far was to "Hack". I am not a hacker nor do I want to be. Please someone give me a reason or an exuse to use these.

... Some switch as a small protest against Microsoft. Some switch because they believe that in the future Linux will continue to grow and expand. There are many distributions of Linux (flavors). There are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of programmers all over who contribute to the language because the code behind Linux is accessible allowing anyone to mess around with it. I use Novell's SUSE Linux as my web and sql server. Both for cost and reliability I decided to try Linux. Even though I use and like Linux, I am not a Microsoft basher. There is a need for Microsoft's products, but the idea of weaning.. away from BILL's quest to take over the world is kinda satisfying.

DEepends if u feel brave enough 2 step out of the conventional "Windows Desktop".

There a thousands of reasons y people shud use Linux over Windows (in fact many do!). The Unix is a server based language, however Linux is both for a desktop and a server. U may as well get a copy of Linux thats boot from a cd, and c what think of it.

Enjoy
