The combination of both board and cpu is commonly known as a bundle where the individual vendor will slash the total just for advertising purposes. Plus that is one way of clearing any overstock they have by offering a deal. The MSI board can be seen for $48- at http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=BA22176 The actual mark down on the bundle is on the cpu itself when buying the board. For the $48- price tag TigerDirect is trying to clear that model board out for newer inventory most likely.

Cause its a Celeron D/3.06, IMHO one of the worst CPU's.

Naturally! But besides that when you buy a bundle for a good deal you most likely will buy other things needed to go along with it. That's when they got you coming and going! When you are only upgrading not working on a new build you are most likely going to need one more thing from them. Plus you are most likely going to be a return customer.
