Why won't my computer stay asleep?

Hey guys, so here's the thing, I'm very conscious of my power consumption so I when I'm not using my laptop I always put it to sleep. Well for some reason when I put my desktop to sleep, it sleeps for like 20 seconds then for no reason just wakes itself up. I'm running 64 bit Vista Ultimate if that helps :P

i don't think I understand...like a dial up modem?

We have cable internet and it goes through a modem then a router but I don't see how that would matter...

Yeah i would have to go with Vizy93 that seems exactly correct. it would have to be some wake up featrue.

GOOD LUCK!

thanks but I looked in the computer management thing, and none of the USB devices were set to be able to wake the computer. Additionally, if I unplug the ethernet cable before putting it to sleep, it never wakes up. So this leads me to believe that it IS the wake on LAN function, but I don't know how to turn it off. There wasn't anything in the basic BIOS menu, is it possible there's other more specific BIOS menus?

what is the brand and model of the computer?
Is the Network card integrated into the motherboard or a separate PCI card?

Also try this,
Control Panel - Device Manager - Network Adapters - right click one of them and click properties - check if there is a Wake form Shutdown or Wake on LAN setting that you can change
give me a sec while i look up your specific BIOS.

yeah the last link you posted basically had me check USB devices for that option so while I was in there I checked the network card and it wasn't enabled.

ok I checked your BIOS out, under the "Power" tab you have APM Configuration.
There are options such as Power On By PCI Devices and such. Disable all of them.

ok I'll try, gimmie a sec. Could you do me a favor though? Where did you find the specific stuff for my BIOS? I'd love to know what everything does, lol
