Why won't Vista install on my laptop?

I have a Toshiba Tecra L2 with 2 gig of ram and 100 gig hard drive. I installed XP about a year ago on this and I just got Vista a few days ago. I just got around to install it. But it says something like like This operating system won't run on this computer. But why is that?

Here run this program from microsoft and it will tell you if you can install vista and if not why?

my 3 yr old acer aspier is running Vista Ultamate with Intel centrino 1.8 ghz, 1 gig ram, 128 mb on board gpu, and 80 gig HDD, but wont run windows Aero settings!
