yes, for example many cinematic cards are avaliable for the 200 but would be bad for games.

halflife2, doom3, farcry,tribes series, starwars games, cs, full spectrum warrior. so would ati or nvidia be better.

Of course it wont make any difference.. you should only have to worry about what you want to do with the card and type like agp,pci,pci express. And there's been a few complaining about cards not working great with certain chipsets but you really need not worry about that.

for games like that i would go with a high-end nvidia like Blue got...but about compatability with the p4 dont worry about it

Processors are not "matched" with video cards so feel free to get an ATI or nVidia card
