Widescreen Gaming?

Hey everybody, a couple of questions. Do all widescreen LCD's revert back to 4:3 aspect ratio for games that do not support widescreen, is there an option for that on all widescreen LCD's? Or will my games that don't support widescreen be stretched and look weird? Thanks for your help.

From my experience if the game does not support widescreen then it gets stretched out. There are some tricks for more popular games so that the can be run in widescreen without being stretched out but that involves changing game files.

I have a wide screen monitor and you can actually set the aspect ration on the monitor itself, 4:3 or 16:9, if I run a 4:3 in 16:9 mode on my monitor, it looks weird, But most games have support for widescreen anyway.

I as well have a widescreen monitor, and when I play games that dont support widescreen, I usually run it at 1024x768. It's still stretched, but it isnt unbearable.

It looks really weird man, their faces are all stretched out and stuff. I would rather have two black bars for games that doesn't support widescreen.

Well in my case I only play fairly new games, so pretty much all of them support widescreen resolutions. But some of the older games I play such as Age of Empires, only have 3 resolutions, so I usually run it at either 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

Widescreen is much better though because we see more side to side than up and down. So our field of vision is a rectangle rather than a square.

Almost all the games I play support 1440x900 which is what 19 inch widescreens use so I am good. :-P
