when playing a .avi widescreen movie is there still the black bars on the top and bottom? or does it take up the full screen.

It depends on the resolution of the widescreen, the type of widescreen used in the movie, etc.

you do know that 16:10 is squarer than 16:9


it all depends on the aspect ratio that the .avi file is set to


if its higher than 1.77:1 than you will have black bars

when watching a 16:9 movie on a 1680x1250 monitor, there are slim black bars on the top and bottom

and like i said, the difference is small enough not to notice any stretching if you simply scale the image to fit
