well, i "borrowed" a copy of xp from my friend a few days ago, then i installed it, and it never asked me to activate it. why is it not annoying the h*LL out of me like it usually does? i also noticed something different when it asked me to type the serial #, but i couldnt figure it out.

It's most likely been pirated and the key is stored on one of it's .ini file and called upon during the installation without the need for you to enter it in.

hmmm. corperate huh. well, it wont let me download anything from microsoft.com because it says its not genuine. well, anyone know what to do about this? oh its my friends key.

So, what you need to do is go buy yourself a copy of a legal Windows XP disc and install it on your system.
