wiered dvd combo drive

hi all
i have a laptop with a combo drive some times it works fine , some times it dissapears from my computer and i have to go to device manager and scan for hardware changes to re detect it, some times that too dont work ,
m confussed what is my dvd problem .;.. many times it fails to read the disks which other drives can read with no problem ... it makes some noise i do know why..

its very irritating.. and frustrating need help dont want to buy any drives

If suck problems are occurring it's probably going defected.
You should consider hitting the stores for a new one

i got it replaced once.... it had same problem ... now this one is giving trouble

once i went to service center they told me there was a prob in the lens of the damn optical device.

any clue??
do i have to hit the market??
