My husband is driving me bananas. We just purchased a dell 8300 that came with a Radeon HD 5450 card. Well this card wasn't good enough for him(something about games and whatnot) so he picked out a Radeon HD 5770 from Amazon.
We thought we had solved the problem until he saw the size of the 5770.
He is scared it might not fit in the case so he ordered another card, a Radeon HD 5750. Both a due to arrive on Tuesday.

Here is a pic of the inside of the case:

I'm curious as to what he means by the 5770 "being too big".
How can one card fit and not another? Also is the 5450 card not able to play games like WOW and Call to Duty?

I'm trying to educate myself about these things. I tired of him talking to me like a child when I ask a question about this stuff.
Any and all answers will be greatly appreciated.

Since the harddrive cage isnt to the right of the PCIe slot. I dont see a problem with it fitting. Just make sure the power supply is good enough to power a new card.

Which it probably isn't, so you'll most likely need a new PSU.

I do know about the power supply!!! It's a 460W power supply. So hopefully his card will work and he'll stop driving me bananas.
You guys and your computer stuff!

He gets this crazy obsession with the PC every 2-3 years. Usually I'll just roll with the punches but not this time. I really could care less what's inside the PC. What I don't like is the incessant need to change parts, upgrades ect..
It sidelines the PC for days and days.
Hopefully one of the 2 cards on order will shut his piehole for the next year or two. :)

Lol you can only hope. A guy has to have a hobby though. Just let him do his thing but just make sure you keep him in check ;)

One solution would be his & hers computers. That way he could upgrade his computer and sideline it for a couple of days but you would still have your computer to use in the meantime.
