Wifi Distance Problem

Hey, I've been researching a lot about wifi lately and have a question about it.

Question: How can I boost my signal without slowing internet speeds down?

Info: What I've got so far is that wifi repeaters according to research slow internet speeds down. What my goal to do is to increase wifi signal to my Xbox 360 which is on the other side of the house and up a floor. This is my router: http://www.actiontec.com/products/product.php?pid=191#.UdpfsG1DAjE
Currently, with my wired connection, the speed is 13.7 mbps. The wireless speed near my Xbox is 5.8 mbps. So, would buying a new router increase wireless speeds or are there possibly any techniques to change the speed? Your expertise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's hard to tell from the picture, but many AP's don't have removable antennas, in that case you can't swap them easily, or at all. I would look at getting a new access point and place it closer to your Xbox.

Also, make sure the AP is up high, clear of obstacles such as cabinets, desks, walls, etc.

No problem! They are removable, cannot move router location as I do not own the house. Thanks guys, I also figured out these converters are needed: RP-SMA Female to RP-TNC Male Adapter for Antenna Router

I hope there will be a question I can help with on this forum in the future. Thank you all.
