Wifi everywhere

I bought a Nextbook 8 tablet. It connects at WiFi hotspots. It says it doesn't connect by 3g. I want internet where there is not a hotspot. What do I need to connect anywhere? Mobile WiFi hotspot? Att and Verizon need their phone and cost too much, Thanks for information.

Most cellular providers sell hotspot devices that broadcast a wifi network. They are generally tied into a monthly fee and strict data caps, though.

What kind of requirement for speed/bandwidth/cap are you looking for?

Check out FreedomPop: https://www.freedompop.com/

If you're in their coverage area you can get 500MB of free data each month and additional data is $0.02/MB ($20/GB). You can buy the hotspot device from them (or bring your own).

It seems anytime you pay for wifi it costs an arm and a leg. I'm fortunate that I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan from Verizon (not offered any longer) for my phone.

The alternative to a cellular based hotspot device is to use free wifi at places like Starbucks and McDonalds.

You would be best returning it and buying a laptop that has a 3G/LTE modem. Otherwise, you'll need to have a smartphone or portable hotspot and pay for tethering.
