hi experts,

I have a problem regarding my sony vaio notebook. I have a wifi connection here in our place. I noticed that if i didn't set any security password for my wifi connection, my sony vaio notebook can connect to the wifi and in the internet. but if i set a security password particullarly in WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK it can not connect to my wifi. Why is it so? I already tried other laptop and after inserting the security password it automatically connect. Please help.

Your wireless adapter might have a hard time with that type of security encrpytion. Change it to WEP and see what happens.

I already change it to WEP sir and it connects right away even though i set a security password on my router. It doesn't ask for any security when want to connect to the internet using my sony vaio notebook. can you guide me sir on how to make that WEP more secure. I use WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK type since it offer a musch better security in my part.

You have to make a password for the wep then it will ask. If your not sure how to go to their website of your router and it will tell you step by step

Thank you for the suggestion sir. I already finished setting up the WEP security key. BTW, some people claim that WEP is not as good in terms of wifi wecurity they advice to use WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. Is this true? how vulnerable WEP is in terms of hacking your wifi connection. I read some post in some forums that their wifi was hack and they use WEP for that.

Unless you have a very experienced hacker in your area, WEP will be secure enough for you.
