WiFi speed / far away from source

Hi guys,
just moved into a new place. It's a small section outside a family's house and the internet (router) is located inside and I am connected via WiFi inside my little place outside. There is a wifi extender (provided) in my room but even so, the speed is not good. Often it will drop to extreme lows (0.5-1 MB P/S speed) but usually it will be around 1.5 - 2 MB P/S. I'm a gamer and this is seriously unplayable for me. What do you guys recommend me do to increase speed.

The wifi extender provided by the family is one that plugs into a board via USB and I can actually put it into my PC. There is chinese writing all over it, I don't know much about them but perhaps it is low grade? I've heard of a method using multiple modems to extend wifi range but I'm not too savvy.

Thanks guys. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have also tried to shift the Wi-Fi extender around the room. No avail. Perhaps a different better one? Oddly my phone seems to get a great connection. It's the ps4 and PC that lacks.
