Wii Recall

Some people must really get into the game to throw their wiimote across the room into their TV/vase/glass thingy.

haha, i would, i think the Wii would be awsome to play, and knowing me i would end up putting the Wiimote through the TV, or a window, or else something valuable :P

A wee bit off topic, so forgive me, but I don't see what the big deal is with motion sensitive controllers. I have two Microsoft ones here for the computer that I've had for several years. I keep them for the ergonomics, but I can't stand the motion sensitive feature in them. Fortunately you can disable it with the push of a button.

I havn't touched a Wii yet, or seen on in person yet... but in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess... you swing the Wii remote to swing Link's Sword.
Seen it on Canada AM...

Well it's not exactly a next generation console, still it's probably the best of them all in terms of neatness.

well... I've seen a boxing game for the Wii... and it seemed pretty fun with those controllers :)

Yeah boxing is fun, and can get kind of tiring especially when your buddy starts going ballistic next to you. If he starts going crazy and throwing punches like a mad man, you pretty much do the same to out punch him. From a distance it probably looks like two men having a sissy slap fight, but whatever its fun.

Zelda was the first title I bought, and yes it is totally bad ass. For your sword swings it uses the gyroscope in the controller, so making simple wrist gestures will make you swing the sword. Holding down certain button or directions on the nunchuck also manipulate the sword. The nunchuck is also used to evade attacks and defend. The Game was overall amazing and I did beat it, but I did not beat it 100%. I was missing the largest wallet you could get, 3 full hearts, and one of the glass jars. So, I am going to replay it through again and see if I can beat it with everything. Also, the bow and arrow in that game is amazingly fun. It does take a bit to get used to, but once you get it down its so much fun.

well of all the new gen. console problems, this is definitely the most minor...props to Nintendo
My nintendo I got back when i was a little kid in 1985 still works. I can power it on and play it. I played the original mario on it maybe a year or two ago. I don't think I have it anymore though, I think I gave it to my friend so his kid could have it. Anyways, Nintendo stuff lasts a very long time. The wrist strap problem may not be a huge deal and I never really forcefully swing my wiimote that hard. However, when I rented madden and had some heated games against my friends I did notice the more of a nail biter it became the harder and more exaggerated I would swing the wiimote.

The wiimote is a bit different. The only part that is really IR is the remote like function, just how a light gun works on an arcade game or just like nintendos old light gun. The other part that makes this better is the gyroscope of course. The wiimote responds to how you hold it. Some of the release games really took advantage of it, and sometimes after I have had a few drinks and try to bowl with my buddies I tend to have a mean hook on my tosses. When sober I tend to toss the bowling ball a bit better. So, it does pick up how you handle the wiimote, which is so genious IMO.

wow, i didnt know it responds to how you hold it! :O that acutally sounds better than i originally thought, i REALLY have to try a Wii... :D

I don't see how it's not next generation....does next gen. only mean you have overpowered and overpriced parts in the machine?
Nintendo at least tried something completely new rather than do a little more with the same old stuff...

People are starting to give Next Gen two different meanings. Some believe it means that a console must support HD resolutions and superior graphics. Others believe it just means that the console is the successor to the previous console. The second meaning was more common before Sony's marketing started giving next gen a different meaning...

Anyways, the thread title is really misleading. They're not exactly recalling the consoles, just replacing the broken straps...actually, I don't think that article mentions anything about the Wiis being recalled...

imo, nintendo are the leaders in this area, and its cool they are trying new stuff, and this new stuff is totaly awsome, how could it not be seen as next gen?, Microsoft and Sony have just revamped their previous consoles and are chaing/will charge too much for them, where as nintendo are keeping it cheap and cool  i think i would rather have a Wii over a Xbox360 anyday, not sure about ps3.. dont know that much about it :P

Nintendo FTW!

I'd say for it to be next gen it would have to not be the last gens hardware (I know it's not exactly the same but for all intents and purposes it is the same). I could care less if it has HD output, my non-HD tv certainly doesn't need 1080p resolution :P

I do think the wii is the neatest console that's come out in a long time. And were I to buy a console today, it would be the one I get. In fact I like the entire premise of the wii. That doesn't change the fact that if the PS3 survives 3 years I'll buy one when it's cheaper.
