Will 550w power my rig?

AsRock 880gm-LE Mobo
AMD Phenom 960T X4 (W/ Stock cooler)
8gb G.Skill Sniper 1333 RAM (4gb x 2)
Samsung CD/DVD/CD-RW Optical
SATA 7200 RPM HDD
Sapphire 6850 GPU

2 Fans (1 x 92mm, and 1 x 120mm)

The power calculators say it can, but I would like to know from the experts.

Yes a 550w will power your system, but dont go get a cheap 550w unit, go for something trusted like Corsiar, XFX, Seasonic,Antec, PC Power and Cooling etc...

Something like a corsair CX-500 V2 or a Antec Neo Eco 520C 520W would be good aswell.

Thanks for the reply, how's this PSU? This is perfect for me, considering this is a micro ATX build, a modular PSU would be great, that's mainly why I was wondering. So I could step down for a higher wattage PSU for a modular.

ocz aren't the best, they're so-so, and they don't give you too many watts for your money, i mean the actual wattage on the 12v rail which is the main one, but this is a better brand, good rebate, and costs about the same

this will hold closer to the 44 amps on the 12v than the ocz will hold 25 on its 2 12v's

Antec 550W has 444W and 37 amps on the 12V rail.
OCZ 600W has 504W and 42 amps on the 12V rail.
XFX 550W has 528W and 44 amps on the 12V rail.
Cooler Master 600W has 480W and 40 amps on the 12V rail.

Of the 4 the XFX is the better supply.
Better then any of them.

There are so many choices. Way too much to choose from here. So is higher amperage on a +12v rail better? And what does it mean if there are multiple +12v rails. I am completely confound in this area. What makes a PSU good?

I'm just really confused on this whole "+12v rail" thing. I know it takes a lot of patience with a guy like me coming in, and I'm sorry for that. You guys have been a lot of help though and I've been soaking in every single thing I've been told. I've learned monolithic amounts of information just days after posting on this site. Thanks for that!

I did find this though, it has a 10$ off promotional code, and I have a 15$ gift card. So this would be a 35$ PSU all together for me. I just don't trust rebates at all. Not sure if it's a good PSU or if it would power my rig. I know it's not modular, but I will survive. I don't want the PSU to be ridiculously expensive and I do want a good PSU. So basically something with just enough and maybe a little more power for my rig.

This would work out PERFECTLY! I have just enough money to buy this combo with gift cards added in and everything! I also realize this is a bare drive, but my mobo came with 2 SATA connectors.

That looks like a good deal for the HDD and PSU, just the PSU isn't modular.

If you don't mind not having a modular PSU then you are good to go.

that could work but that psu is a low end one, although a good one still, but hitatchi hdd's are crap compared to western digital, seagate, and samsung. this is better, only 15 more, although 10 less in rebates, but gives you some headroom that the other won't
