i am. that's what xp x64 is for. if you could run it on 32 bit systems, what would be the point?

32bit software will run natively on a 64bit system but 64bit software will not run on a 32bit system. You need a 64bit processor and 64bit compatible OS, one example stated above, to run 64bit apps.

OK I have a question, windows can run a 64bit, so is windows designed to do both?

windows xp x64 can run both 64-bit and 32-bit apps
but if you are using windows xp with a 64-bit processor you are just running at 32-bit mode
