Will a 9800 GTX work with my computer?

Hello,

I hate lag from my 8500 gt so im upgrading to a 9800 GTX. Problem is, i don't know if it will work. Here are my specs.:

Asus M2N68-LA (my motherboard)
3gb memory
600W power supply (currently have 300W but plan to upgrade to that)
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core Processor (device manager says i have 4)
One PCI
One PCI Express x16
Two PCI Express x1

Any non-spam answer appreciated (if more info about specs is needed just say so)
 
Yep as Seth said, should be fine.

What PSU do you plan on getting? A solid 500W would work just as well. (when I say solid, I mean 80+ certified)
 
I was going to get a rocketfish 750 watt actually for 150$, but iff i only need a 500 watt, i'm thinking about a dynex for 90$. are eaither of those good brands?

Just make sure you get a quality 600W unit, look at brands like Corsair, OCZ, Antec, etc...

Just in case you were wondering, it shows as four because it's a quad-core CPU and each core is identified as a separate CPU.
 
yes, i do have dual channel memory. I'm not sure how they display memory speed, but HP says this about my memory:

Dual-Channel Architecture
Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
Supported DIMM types:
PC2-5300 (667 MHz)
PC2-6400 (800 MHz)
Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered

I do know that I can only support up to 4GB of memory though.

Thank you for telling me which power supplies are better than others, ill look for those. I probably should've known that there would be 4 quad core processors inside my computer, but thanks for pointing out the obvious for me.:cool:

np at all. Oh and one more great PSU brand I shoula mentioned: Seasonic.
 
You can probably run any card with that mobo as long as you have a good enough power supply to go along with it.

Like I said before, I have the same mobo. Threw in an 8800GT and a Corsair VX450 and it runs perfectly. The only time to consider a new mobo is if you get a high end card, like GTX 200 series or a 4870. That's when you will notice the PCIe 2.0.

And Corsair is a good company. Mine is completely silent.
