Will a celeron be enough for pentium req.?

Hi-

Here's my problem.

I have a 3.3 Ghz Celeron processor in my current PC, I have 3 gig ram.

Starcraft II will be coming out (hopefully) this year. I don't know if I need a new computer to run it or not. I would like any advice you can give. The requirements are as follows:
2.2 Ghz Pentium IV, 1 GB system RAM.

So, my question is: Will my processor be fast enough or should I consider getting a new PC?

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about that now. They haven't released any specs on it. I would expect a Dual-Core to be the recommended when they do release the specs.
Id wait till the game is a month from launch when they show you the specs then make a decision.I think you will find however that upgrade your system will be needed.

If its not on http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml then its just "guess" work so can't be trusted.

While that's true, the beta is probably a pretty good estimate I'd say (since much won't be done except to fix problems) and that's what specs I put.

You have the slot 775 celeron and you do have an open dedicated video pciexpress slot, would recommend getting a dedicated video card. The game might run on your processor but then celerons are a slower processor than the P4.

You do have an older system(915 chipset), if you plan on getting more into games then your best bet would be to build a new system.

I have a video card. It's an nvidia like 8600 or something like that. I also now have 3 Gig ram. It runs really well, but I'm still afraid it may not run the game. Oh well, guess I'll just have to try it lol. Thanks.

You'll be fine. The the Celeron D 356 is a Cedar Mill design, which means it's got a 512MB L2 cache, same as the Northwood Pentium 4's.

However, A newer Pentium 4 would have 1-2MB on the L2 cache and possibly Hyper Threading, making them much faster. I'd recommend looking around for a Pentium 4 HT 6xx model. They're pretty cheap. The best ones to get would be the ones ending in 1. (631/641/651/661) Those are the 65nm Cedar Mill models, and will run cooler than the Presscot models(620-670). Either will be ok, though.
