Will a new proc affect this?

i have 1.5 gigs ram
geforce 600 256 mb
350w psu

now what i was wondering was, if i upgrade from an intel celeron 2.4ghz to a pentium 4 2.4 or 3.0 what will change? Will thsi help things like say for instance i double click my computer to open the window for it, will it make that open faster?

And will it really improve my gaming experience at all? Will it help load screens, etc?

you have another post open at the moment discussing your ram. I think that we should focus on this first, did you read ram 101 as i suggested. This should explain that all your ram is currently running @ 166. But you have some rated to 200 if im not mistaken. How much of you ram is ddr333 rated and how much ddr400. You may see a good increase in performance if you put in only ram that is ddr400 rated and run your ram and cpu in sync. But then thats assuming you celeron is at 400mhz fsb

as for upgrading the processor, well the p4 is a lot more pwerfull than celeron and will beat it in most benchmarks, gaming or not. So it may be a good call, could you post the make and model of your mobo so we can be sure your compatible

Also your hdd is quite small, if you got a lot installed that may be slowing you down quite a bit. you should be able to pick one up for dirt cheap.

these are pics of everest, showing my mobo and ram. Ever since i installed the ram i am also having problems now, everytime i right click it drwtsn debuigger freezes my comp.

yep i had the exact same problem.. it went away after a while.. i tried alot of things, deleting things everywhere... it still happens rarely, but it hasnt been too much of a problem.. this drwtsn bug is a big one
