Will AMD make a comeback?

I really hope AMD climbs out of the hole they are in...it's true, they are behind Intel in many areas. I think the launch of their new series will be big. They will be decent processors for good prices...that's what consumers want right? I have read some very promising reviews and reports on the new processors. The new Phenom II 940 will be a 3GHz Quad Core for sub $300 price...that alone will make it popular. Here is a thread I started a while back on an article I saw.

"Under a deal announced in October, AMD will split into two separate entities: a CPU, GPU design company keeping the AMD name and a fabrication company temporarily called The Foundry Company. Enabling this move? Cold Hard Cash, and lots of it, from two companies owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, one of the United Arab Emirates. The first, Mubadala Development Company is paying more than 300 million dollars to obtain 19.3% share of AMD. The second, Advanced Technology Investment Company is paying 2.1 billion dollars for 55% of the foundry. The money will go towards reducing AMD's debt, part of which is transferring to the Foundry. In addition, ATIC will contribute 3.6 to 6 billion more dollars for renovations and new construction on AMD's fabs in Dresden and New York."

wow, thats insane. All of it...

Title says it all. Do you think AMD will ever outperform Intel again?
no lol

lol, theres no way that you can just say in all of time AMD will never again outperform Intel. Thats just ridiculus. AMD will surpass Intel at one point then later on down the road intel will come back and so forth until one of them really screws up or something.

you traters who say "i used to be an AMD fan boy" so why arnt you any more?!? im an AMD fan and will always be one and i dont crawl to intel when the tough get going

because intel released a better product. its pretty silly to sacrifice performance just to go drag through the mud with a company's inferior product. But does AMD make great mid range/budget CPUs yes, and thats why I have an AMD in my computer even though intel has the better product. While I love AMD, if I had the money, I would gladly take an intel

Its like any thing else. Take cars, Die hard Camaro Fans, Die hard Mustang fans. Some years the Camaro was faster, some the mustang was. Didnt matter to the die hards fans, They would not but the other make if hell froze over. Then you have your unloyalest in the middle that will buy what ever is the fastest.

Out of the group of three, none is really wrong, its just how you look at it.

i would like to see them outperform Intel again, but do i think they will? no.

but who knows what AMD have up their sleeves....they could already have something already or in development that could whip intels ass for the next 5 years or so :D we just dont know :)

I could have said the same thing between ATI and Nvidia, and look what happened with the 48xx series (and the 4870x2's). So while it may not seem like it now, you never knopw what they are secretly developing. There was little to no hype leading up to the Nvidia killer cards, and now look.
