Will Graphics Card Kind Of Crossfire With Onboard?

I have asked this before and never got a ansew, I dont know if it sounds completly silly and makes me look like an idiot or if it has a point. When you add a graphics card like a ati card does it share the power or memory of the onboard chip in anyway or do you just have to completly disable this? The reason I started this was because there are people on the net saying you do use the onboard graphics memory on top of the cards... confused now..

Most AMD motherboard have hyper crossfire x which is where a ATI graphics card will crossfire with the onboard but this does not work with new card only older cards.

There are some motherboards that will allow this type of "hybrid" crossfire. But any newer card will blow onboard graphics away. And crossfiring it with onboard will do nothing but slow the card down.
