so there are a few games on my list that i want...my system is in my signature and i was wondering if i can play these titles below (at least on med settings) by the way i will be getting the new video card (also in my sig)...

Half life 2
CSS
The Sims 2
Oblivion
Halo
FEAR
Double Agent
...yes i know, pretty graphic intesive games...

like i said im not asking for high settings, medium will do fine for me, maybe even low if i must :(

Your PC should handle those games fine. I would say medium to high quality on 800x600 resolution or 1024x768 resolution, but for oblivion, I am not sure....do some trial and error on all your games to see the limits to a playable game on different settings.

Yeah intergrated wont cope with Sims2 im pretty sure but the rest of the games should get medium/high @ 800x600 or more, once you get your 6600gt I think Sims2 should play fine @ 1024x768 and you shoudl be able to get away with full settings on 1024x768 with all your other games and 1280x1024 on medium in some games, nothing like FEAR tho, you might be able to only get meduim @ 1024x768 with that.

Half Life 2 - Probably medium 1024...
CSS definatley
Sims 2 definatley
Oblivion, never heard of it
Halo definatley
FEAR - Low Settings
Double Agent, never heard of it

You basically have the same system i have, the only thing is i have 2 gigs of ram, and i have a 7600 gs.....but our systems are pretty close, were probably talking about like 10-15 fps difference if that.....

half life 2...........you should get 30-40 fps on the highest settings
CSS..................i get like 200 fps, so no less than 100-150 online
the sims 2......... youll run that fine on the highest settings
oblivion.............not sure, maybe medium settings
halo..................highest settings for sure
fear..................medium to low settings on both the cpu and the vid and you should do fine at like 1024 x 768 with no shaders
double agent......not familiar with this game

sorry i was reffering to the new game not out yet, Splinter Cell: Double Agent

by the way, is 30 or 40 fps very good?...like i hate when games get all choppy and laggy...lol i downloaded the half life 2 demo (of the fisrt level) and it didnt handle the high settings to well (remember i dont have the card yet)

The Sims 2 isnt that demanding actually, much less than Half-Life 2.

I'm pretty sure Sims 2 is CPU/memory intensive and not so much GPU. I've never played and never will but I know people whom have and do :).

Corsair 512 x 512mb RAM??????
they will alll work, some better thaothers... u might have some trouble with oblivion, sims 2 should have no trouble on medium-high settings... it plays on my machine below beleive it or not...

they also might go better if u added another gig or another 512 of ram... (im asumming u have 512mb ram)

I'm "guessing" he has 1GB. I think he means 512 x 2.

Yes, FPS games in particular like HL2 should run far better. You should be able to run comfortably at high settings.

cool because i downloaded the demo right now (with my sucky integratted video card) and it runs like crap...even on low settings...

so video cards make serious improvements right?...i really need it...

Yes Sims 2 is all about CPU, very calculation heavy. High res play on a big cluttered lot get crazy heavy.

i have to disagree with all guys, and specially with this one ^

i have 6600 vanilla and i play FEAR on 1024x768 with medium setting, and i play HL2 on 1024x768 with max setting with 2xAA and 4xAF
i run oblivision on 1024x768 with bloom, it just slows down when i fight against an enemy but the game is playable for me at that setting

so i think all game will run fine with 6600GT on 1024x768 since 6600GT is better than normal 6600, the only game i have problems with it is oblivion but since u have a better GPU than mine i think u will able to run it on 1024x768 with bloom effects without problems

really??? minimum requirements is 800MHz and i run it almost smoothly on my P3 866MHz

Try full settings @ 12x10 or 16x12 with the biggest lot filled with 15+ sims (like my nightclub with a number of strobing disco lights etc). The game is known to lag on FX55 chips, but sure some of it is due to the code.
