Right now I have an Acer AL1916W. Great 19" monitor, but because I use my system as a DAW, running all the software, softsynths, vsts can take up a lot of room, so its time to get a 2nd monitor and use the one I have now as the secondary.

I want to stick with Acer, as I like their design and quality.

The two im down to are;

First one is the same model as my one now, except the 22" version.

2nd one looks the same except the 2500:1 ratio.

Will I really see the difference between 700:1 and 2500:1, and is it worth it?

Oh, just saw the 2500:1 monitor isnt vista certified which isnt much of an issue, but when lower the brightness it creates a humming sound.

Thats kinda off-putting.

Therefore, opt for a high contrast projector or display (typically 2000:1), only as long as you can view the image in a light controlled room; you need to view the image in a completely darkened room to be able to perceive the marginal difference between a 2000:1 and a 500:1 contrast ratio. Otherwise paying extra for a high contrast ratio projector or monitor would be waste of money since in moderate ambient light conditions such as a living room, anything higher than 500:1 would not be perceivable by the eye.

Read through this article which I thought was pretty nice. Only if i could delete my own threads here. :o
