Will Interface: DMA/ATA-100 (Ultra), run on my system [I need IDE]?

technically, but the performance is not worth the cost. If you wanted better performance it would be much more cost effictive to buy a SATA 2 PCI card and a SATA HDD.

Wolfeking,

Interesting, so what are you saying is, that a laptop that takes a IDE interface can "physically" attach a SATA hd? Does this mean that the SATA plastic piece is an adapter that can be taken off of the 40 IDE pins?

What you are saying is, if I get a SATA PCI card for my laptop, that I'd be able to run AND utilitize the performance of a SATA drive when the laptop was designed to accept IDE hd's in its interface?

You can't change the HDD interface on your laptop. You'd need to get a newer laptop, such as a D620 or D630.

What Wolfe is referring to would be for a desktop computer and would not work for a laptop.

voyagerfan99,
What's up bro!

I haven't had a desktop for a number of years since a power surge fried my 2.4 Gig, so I was wondering if desktops are made now that ONLY accept SATA physically as its interface connection, or can IDE hd's still be used for newer desktops without having to get an adapter for them?

The small adapters that fit directly over the IDE pins are okay, but the adapters that require cords and another bulky device are to be avoided -- besides, this tends to turn the internal hd into an external one instead!!!!!!!!
