Will it EXPLODE?

I wrote a post a while ago about clearing out your hard drive, and someone said format the hard drive a few times to secure a delete or something.

Well.. I need to know that everything will be deleted no questions asked. Is there really no way to wipe everything out. So.. as an alternative can I remove my hard drive and smash it with a hammer to pieces? Is there anything inside that might harm me?

Also.. I wrote a post about 'using your laptop as a desktop instead (operating the laptop for 12+ hrs a day) Somone said it's okay as long as it doesn't get hot.

Well.. I think it's my hard drive that gets hot. I will have the laptop on for 1 hour and it's a little hot. What should I do? Should I buy a new laptop or something? Or just use a computer (I dont want to though)

Thanks alot, you all are so great!

Well, first, smashing the hard drive with a hammer is not such a great idea. I would be better to unscrew and pry it open with hand tools so you can access the disks (I've done it before). Then of course, you crack, smash, burn, or do whatever to them. The outside is just too hard to smash through.
