well it definitly wont melt, but you might want to tell us what mobo, so you can determin if it has an 8x AGP slot.

get sandra and find out: http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/?dir=news&location=2004_release&langx=en&a=

Yeh, it is 8x i think, he said when he got the computer he peeled a small sticker off the agp slot that said 4x/8x

thx, but i was just wondering, if u put an 8x video card on a 4x video card slot, would the computer not work or will it burn your motherboard?

it will not burn ur motherbored, if ur video card is 4x/8x and u put it on 4x video card slot, it will work as 4x

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS A 200w POWER SUPPLY!? sorry, its just hes totally new to computers all he does is game, and i always hear people say the 6600gt is the best, what would happen if it was 200w? and how do i check how much watts does a power supply have?

a) The 6600GT isnt the best, but it is a very good card.
b) The only thing, AFAIK, that will happen, is the coimputer will not have enough juice to power the system, so it wont boot.

Have a read of PSU101 Reccomendations, but first find out what PSU he has. It should say on the sid eof the PSU.
