Will not install software

Do not remember when this my have started but I have brought a few hardware items latley & found out that I cannot install the software that came with them. Brought a new DVD drive & a Iogear for my daughters Bluetooth. I could not install either software on my computer but they will install on her laptop.I downloaded the driver file for the Iogear off the internet & it would still not load up, So I decided to see if something old would load up, so I deleted a game that was on my computer and tried to re-install it again and it also will not install now. So has anyone ever heard of a computer acting like this and if so what can cause it. thanks
 
yes but I took it out put the old CDrom player back in and got the same thing.... Installation wizard was interuppted...It will load on my daughters laptop. Seems like it dosnt have anything to do with the dvd because everything works on the drive. The dvd recorder works fine it just I cannot install anything new ( software) on my computer... Thats my problem why cant I install any new software.. I`m gonna try to install something else, this seems really weird to me.. thanks for you help

UPDATE!! I did get some software to install.Some didnt but thats an inprovement..MAybe its just a fluke that the two latest I got didnt install. I `m looking into getting a Tv tuner video capture card and was afraid I was going to run into a problem. Guess I`ll just buy it & then worry about whats wrong if I run into a problem with its software...thanks again
