Will PCI card work for this game?

In my family computer we have an FX5200, and I remember playing that LOTR game on it. It's probably just the drivers. If not, maybe you need to reinstall the game.
 
I'm looking at this box again and it says "DirectX 8 compliant Sound card". I know my sound is compatible with some DirectX (like one of the "Let's Ride" games I just got working) but maybe what I have isn't compatible with DirectX 8.
I can't even figure out what Sound stuff I have...several things are listed in the System/Hardware/Devices listing..like SoundMax - maybe that's in my motherboard? Maybe now the hunt starts for a Sound card.....
 
I had quite some issues getting LoTR fellowship of the ring to work too... i had a similair problem with the screen just go black and thats it... I ended up throwing the game on the shelf because i couldnt figure out why it went black all the time... :(

about the soundcard... i dont think thats an issue.. but if you go to to control panel, and then to the audio tab... there the device should be listed :)
