Will the GTX 295 not run any games maxed?

Waiting for my new rig to come in and was just curious if there's some game I don't know about that's demanding.

Off topic but would someone list some games out, and coming out that will use 4 cores?

plenty of games already use 4 cores. Crysis and Crysis Warhead benefits from 4 cores, along with GTA IV (Q6600 listed for recommended specs) which benefits heaps from quad cores. I'm pretty sure a lot of recent games will support quad cores as well. 2010 is meant to a be a good year for games.

The GTX 295 can max all games as far as i know. but it would be better to invest in a DirectX11 card from Ati, or wait till nvidia releases their Fermi based cards. the 5870 is only 5 to 10 percent slower, but you wouldn't really notice that amount.

The only game I can see it having trouble with is Crysis @ maximum resolution, maximum settings and 8XAA 16XAF during the alien or snow scenes. Otherwise it's a beast. And many games already use 4 cores, GTA4 being one of the more intensive ones.

A Quad core doesn't really make any noticeable difference in Crysis. Crysis is a GPU bond game.

There are many games than use 4 cores these days, but at same time many of them are not very well optimized. The only games that I know where a quad core could make a noticeable difference is GTA 4 and Resident Evil 5

Eh I never got the point of dx10 over 9, all i saw was lag problems. If crysis supports 4 cores wouldn't farcry 2?

it should benefit, but far cry 2 is a flop. not worth your money. i bought it and hated it. the game was crap and the bugs made it worse.

I have a GTX 260 and it runs all games maxed, even Crysis. There were parts where Crysis lagged on max settings and frames dropped but that is not due to the card, that is due to the crappy development code of Crysis and the shoddy crytek engine.

Um I haven't bought a computer game in years. If im dropping 2,500 on a pc im getting my damn games free.

You should support the industry, if not you aren't putting money into companies that hire developers and produce games and thus you are partly responsible for driving the cost of video games up.

oh come on, not this again.

I agree that we should buy games so more are made and so we can play the very rare good ones that come out, but if you think that prices will drop if every man and his dog bought games, then I have to say you are sadly mistaken, the companies realise people are used to paying £40+ for a game so they won't change regardless of if salles go up, it will just mean there pockets will be substantially fatter.

Slightly more ot though, I would honestly wait until next year and get an nvidia fermi card or if you can't wait those few months, then go for an ATi 5970 or 5870 for the dx11 support when it eventually comes out; both of those cards aswell as the 295 can max just about any game without breaking a sweat

The giant game publishing companies justify the cost of games partly due to piracy. Google it, and you will get countless interviews with executives that are quoted saying that.

There are plenty of games that come out that start at the 20 to 30 dollar price range but they are few and far between. If you are that worreid about buying a crappy game buy it from gamestop where you can return it and trade it in for another game or sign up for game fly and get rental games delivered to your home, or download the demo.

The fact that you are so willing to pirate games means that companies are very willing to jack their prices up. This is also why Steam and Xbox Live ban accounts.

It is true. When EA sees that 150,000 copies of their latest game is downloaded the day it is released they tend to jack up their prices because they consider that a loss of revenue.

Maybe if you worked 80+ hours a week as a software developer you'd understand better, assuming you are an adult and have your own job you should know there is no such thing as a free lunch.

You can declare whatever the hell you want but that doesn't mean you are right or I am going to listen to you. Piracy is stealing, there is no other way around it. I don't think you would want people stealing your product that you worked hard on and is your means of paying your bills.

I suppose you are probably a kid and don't understand such things. I am not a torrent nazi either, as I do find some software not worth half the cost of what companies are charging. I do however pay for what I find useful and really like.

would you look at that, I am a convert (or in your words dirtbike, a torrent nazi, in my words, a good citizen with morals).

Other than for faster downloads of legal stuff, ie. demos, patches, freeware etc, I don't use torrents and I can understand why developers are annoyed at people downloading them because it is theft of their stuff and loss of comision, but I still stick by that if nobody torrented, prices would still be the same as they are, developers make up some other bullcrap just so they can make quite a bit extra on top of what they already are. They may drop by at most maybe $5 per unit of each release, but they will never drop to say $25 or so at release, not now. Just look at MW2, IW knew that millions of units would be sold, so put it atleast 10 currency higher in the country it was released, so they could make a killing more

Anyone wanna continue on topic while these guys complain?

care to be civil to regulars, we are having a discussion, not complaining, I think you should read the rules about discussing torrents and that, and saying you aren't going to be paying for games just about violates that
