Will the Processor and Video Card really work for such tasks?

I think about building a new computer which will easily play any game and record it by Fraps or another program with maximum quality and resolution from a 30 inch monitor with a 2k display.

Shop assistant recommended me some computer configuration with;

1) Processor Intel Core i7 4.00GHz w/8MB Cache.

2) Video Card ASUS STRIX GTX 970 Directcu II OC GeForce GTX 970 4GB PCI-E w/Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort.

Will the Processor and Video Card really work for such tasks?

Yup sounds good, which i7 exactly?

You could go for an i5 6600K and a GTX 980 or a 980 Ti for the same kind of money though. That would perform better in games and still be fine for recording I think.

I assume it's a 4790k or 6700k as they are the only modern i7s to run at 4 Ghz. Yes there will be no bottleneck but like spirit said you can get an i5 CPU and a better GPU, as long as you don't render videos.

What is about motherboard ASUS H170 PRO Gaming w/DDR4 2133 7.1 Audio Gigabit LAN 2 Way CrossFireX for such tasks?
