Will they release R9 290X with a non-stock fan

Hello,

the stock coller is the only thing that bothers me about the new R9 290X. I experienced this kind of fan with old Radeon HD4870X2 and it was a nightmare.

Do you think someone might release this GPU with a 2 or 3 fan cooler such as R9 280X Toxic card has.

I guess there will be such coolers sold separate from the GPU however I am not looking to hook it up myself. I would much rather buy the card as is.

Why do they even use the extremely loud one fan cooler anyway? I cant figure out a reason why the default option for any major GPU (nVidea included) is the loudest one.

Yes, there probably will be some 290Xs with aftermarket cooling in due time. It's still a new card remember.

The stock coolers really aren't that bad. My 5870 has the stock cooler and I can barely hear it. But my PC is right underneath my desktop. My case fans are louder.

Really? I mean my experience with 4870X2 back 5 years ago which had pretty much the same cooler (visually) was freaking noisy in idle. During full load I could not hear myself speaking almost.

The stock coolers on the R9 290x is terrible, its a leaf blower and even then it can only manage 94oC which is TERRIBLE!

Aftermarket coolers are already available.

And this is the only way to cool down a 290

Okay, the R9 290 series are pretty hot cards, but like you said, the stock cooler is just rubbish. When the non-reference cards come, the noise and the temps will not be a problem anymore. If the GTX Titan had such a cooler, it would get as hot as the R9 290X now gets.

Why do they even make them? Especially with cards that are above $500 everyone can afford to pay 40 - 50 bucks to get a card with a proper silent cooler. Not that ugly noisy brick.

The temperature limit was set by AMD. It will dynamically change the clock speed till it hits the temp cap of 93c then it will scale back the clock speed to keep it from going any higher. If you want to keep it cooler set a fan profile manually. If you want to keep the fan noise down set a different temperature max to keep the fans down or set the clock speed and fan speed manually. I don't really agree with AMDs choice on that but it is by design.

stock coolers are not as good as other options but the blower style is better for keeping your overall case temps down since most of the hot air will blow out the back of the case not into the case and through a cpu tower cooler or radiator in mounted in the top or rear of the case.

By the time you either replace, or pay for a better cooler, you're better off with the Ti, even though its only stock cooler design, mine don't go over 70oC at 200MHz overclock, 75mV overvolt, 106% power during BF4.

Sure Ti is always a better choice in terms of performance but how about the noise the stock cooler makes and the price is far too high.
