Will this CPU cooler fit AM2 socket?

It says that it's:
Socket Type Socket 478/754/940/939/LGA775
Supports Intel's Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Duo

But I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor Socket AM2, so I was wondering if this fan will fit AM2 socket.

Hopfully someone could tell you for sure. I'd say it should because 939 and AMD are basically identical...

I hope you mean AM2, but it might not, the retention plates and stuff are different.

yes, it will fit with a retention modification. the difference in the retention bracket is that it's secured to the motherboard by 4 screws instead of 2. read this, at the end of the 4th paragraph after the picture of the socket:

Id suggest you dont bother about 'retention modification', etc... Just get a new cooler and put a smile on your dile!

Yea, I guess I'll just leave it stock for now . And when a nice fan that I like comes out I'll buy it and do some overclocking on Vista that is
