Will this CPU fit my MOBO?

My current CPU' specs:

Intel Pentium D 950 (3400Mhz)

i don't think a q9650 will work in that board, you might be able to get away with something like a q6600, i'm not sure if 65nm will even work with your board

It will fit in the socket but whether your system will support it is another matter.

just a noob the p4d processors are 85 or 65nm, if he got the system after jan 2006 it will probably be 65nm anyway.

I have just found on the packard bell site this:

CPU Supports

* Socket LGA775
* Intel Pentium D Dual Core Technology
* Intel Conroe CPU
* Intel Pentium Hyper - Threading technology (HT Technology)
* Intel FMB Mainstream 2005, Performance 2005 and 2006 CPU

so, any of the conroe chips will fit, and any of the conroe chips are good for gaming, i have one in my system.

The conroe processors are any of the 65nm core 2 duo processors except for the extreme ones, they are conro xe, that won't work on your motherboard.

Ah thanks Aastii that was very helpful! I do have the Socket LGA 775 as you said. I've never upgraded before so I don't have the slightest clue on what to do.

My current PSU is a 250W. Im going to be putting in a new one, about 650W. Also I'll be putting in a GTS 250. Will the power supply and everything work for it? Do I need to check my Motherboard to see if it will fit or is that it?
