Will this CPU work?

I have 2 computers. One is a Compaq SR1900NX running a Celeron D 3.20ghz CPU and the other is a Compaq SR5210NX Running a Celeron 1.60ghz cpu. Both computers have the same socket number. My question is, Is it possible to swap the cpu's with each other? The one Compaq with the slower CPU is better then the one with the faster CPU ( hard ware wise ). So will the 1.60ghz work in the 3.20ghz Compaq?

ok, The 1.6ghz to 3.20 worked, The 3.20ghz to 1.60ghz did not work. all the computer does is power on.. why?

it is possible that you seated the processor badly. other then that do a normal check of all cables, hard drives, motherboard power, account for every wire.

do i try reseting the bios? If i put the original 3.20ghz back in, the computer works fine.

resetting the bios might help. is one proc a dual-core and one not?

The Celeron 352 is a netburst based CPU while the Celeron 420 is a Core based. One of the older Compaq's (1900NX) BIOS, VRM or Chipset is incompatable with the newer CPU.
