I want to get a quad core 2.83. I saw this on a different site and it didn't mention quad core. It's the right socket type and all.

yes socket 775 includes p4, pD, Core 2 duo's, core 2 quad cores and extreme edition. It will fit. If you can afford a bit more take a look at these 2 they are much better:
