will this graphics card will keep up for the next 1.5 years?

hi thanks
r9 380 is probably the better choice over the r7 370
but by howmuch?
is the power difference big?

The R9 380 is a good card!! And based on the situation you are in, and need a GPU now..its a good choice/bang for buck!!

What games do you play? That's really the only way to answer your question. If the video card will play your games at max settings then it will be fine but it just depends on what exact games you want to play. You'll also need at least a 550-600 watt psu to run the 380.

only uses 1x6 pin connectors wich doesn't seem powerfull to me
That doesn't really mean much, the new gtx 1080 only has 1x 8 pin for power, does that make it less powerful than a 1x6 + 1x8 pin card?

crysis, battlefield, gta 5 just a few to name and also future games
if the 380 requires 550w then the r390 requires 600+?
(oh god why amd needs to launch polaris in couple months, new generation less powerconsumption for more power)

Yea, the PCIE pin isn't a good reference for performance. The 1080 performs as well as an OC'd 980 ti while using 30% less power. Rumour has it that the 1060 is suppose to only need power from the PCI-e slot.

I guess I assumed by your other thread that you needed something to just get you through cause the current card died, I figured you'd want something decent but cheap for now and maybe buy a new gen in a few months or later this year.

thanks
bought the sapphire nitro r9 380
i just hope it will keep up for the next +- 1.5 years
because after seeing the gtx 1080 for €600 and 1070 for €379 , amd will do something similar of not better for cheaper
wich sucks very bad because gtx 1070 is 2 times better than 980 and i just bought the r9 380...

The R9 380 will be fine for a while for you. Not top tier, lets not kid ourselves, and the new 400 series I highly doubt will be better performance wise, price..probably..but thats nothing new. But you will be happy with the R9 380...especially since you needed a solution right away!

Why would the new 400 series not be better than the 300 series?

Ohhhhh thats what he meant..!!

I re-read what I wrote, what I meant was I doubt its gonna be better than Nvidias offering, performance wise, but still at a better price point, like the AMD cards usually are.

My bad guys, sorry
