Will this HDD fit in my desktop?

I have an old desktop (HP Pavilion 512n around 12 years old) and looking to add this HDD.

Here are the computer specs:
- Win XP
- Intel Celeron 1.40GHz
- 256MB of RAM
- Current HDD 70GB

New HDD specs:
- Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Sata 6GBPS 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - Oem

Here are a couple questions I have:
1. Will the new HDD have the same ports as the current old HDD?
2. Will this old computer support a 1TB drive?
3. Can I add the new HDD or do I need to replace the current one?
4. Do I need to buy some cables to add the new HDD?

My suggestion to you would be to spend your money on a new system as your system is slow due to only 256mb ram running XP on a single core celeron processor which is terrible. Don't put any money into this and find a system that was new within the last few years. It would be much better then the one you have now.

I understand but I would like to only buy an 1TB HDD since my budget is very limited.
 
By the way, what do you guys think of something like that?

The reason I'm looking for a cheap desktop is that my father in law needs a very basic computer for looking at car schematic in his car repair shop. The old HP Pavillion 512n was doing the job fine but he now wants to add a database for all car models which requires 750GB. The computer will get very dirty and will not last many years anyway so his budget is very limited.

Then that one from tiger should be fine. It won't be quick but at least the OS is still supported. Would recommend 4gb of ram though.
 
2GB of RAM is plenty. I have a Dell Optiplex 780 I bought my parents and all they do is surf the net and print. It works fine. I should upgrade the RAM, but I really don't see a need. What I want to do maybe sometime this summer is install a SSD.

My laptop here running Windows 7 Ultimate had 2GB of RAM and it worked fine. Then I upgraded to 3GB for the hell of it since I had the temp folder in a RAM drive.

That machine only supports 2GB ram, but normally I would definitely agree with you.

To the OPS, look into ReadyBoost when you get that machine, it would be helpful.
 
You could also consider PCI->SATA add-on cards as an alternative option.

The gigantically constrained budget for a business sounds counter-intuitive though. If it's worth enough to figure out and set up for extra revenue then it's worth investing a little more into it.
