Will this memory work in this computer?

I have an HP Pavilion a220n computer for a few years now. Recently I removed the two 256mb modules and replaced them with two 512mb modules. My girlfriend just purchased the Dell Dimension 1100 computer for a great deal. The only knock I found was that it has 256mb ram, kinda weak.

Can I use the RAM that I have sitting around from my HP in her Dell? She has two DIMM slots, and only one is being used with a 256mb module. Common sense tells me I can just put in one of the two modules I have and up her RAM to 512mb, perfect for her. I went to the website of the manufacturer for the RAM that was preinstalled in my HP... it was Smart Modular Tech. It shows for my HP using 256MB PC2700 Module ram and the Dell using 256MB PC3200 Module ram. The only different appears to be the PC2700 vs. PC3200. They are both the 184 DIMM.

Please advise.

As long as the RAM's DDR2700 or higher(but not DDR2) everything will be fine. You COULD use slower RAM if you wanted, but that'd slow both chips down...

Which of the following options am I better off with?

A - The stick already in the brand new Dell computer of 256mb PC3200 400mhz

B- One stick of my older ram from my HP (SMART ram) that is 256mb PC2700 333mhz with the stick from A... which wud total 512mb. (I do realize I am mixing RAM brands. Does that make this a bad choice?)

C- Removing the brand new ram from the new Dell and just putting in both modules of 256mb PC2700 333mhz RAM giving her 512mb, eventho it is a slower speed than the 1 stick of 256mb.
